Optical fiber plasma current faraday

WebJun 9, 2011 · Abstract: Fiber optical current sensor (FOCS) is a technique considered to be compatible with the ITER nuclear environment. FOCS principle is based on the magneto-optic Faraday effect that produces non-reciprocal circular birefringence when a magnetic field is applied in the propagation direction of the light beam. WebThe fibre optic current sensor (FOCS) at ITER is a supplementary diagnostic system that will provide, for safe machine operation, important information on the plasma current during long plasma discharges under intense nuclear radiation [1]. There are only a few demonstrations of the FOCS operation at tokamaks [2], [3], [4].
