Theory of optimal arousal
WebbArousal Theory Extensions of drive theory take into account levels of arousal as potential motivators. As you recall from your study of learning, these theories assert that there is an optimal level of arousal that we all try to maintain (Figure 6.2.2). If we are under-aroused, we become bored and will seek out some sort of stimulation. Webb5 nov. 2016 · The theory claims that as arousal rises, attention narrows until it reaches an optimal level when only relevant cues are processed. Accordingly, any further increase in arousal would lead to further narrowing of attention and at some point even relevant cues may be missed.

Webb1 juli 2024 · The Yerkes-Dodson law is a model of the stress-task performance connection. It claims that an intermediate degree of stress, or arousal, is required to achieve optimal performance. Arousal levels that are either low or too high have a negative impact on performance. The inverted-U model of arousal is another name for it. Webbtheory proposes an additional assumption that attachment bonds begin to form during the initial phases of the search (Fig. 2). The theory further proposes that at some subjective threshold of interest, liking, or arousal, an individual will expend the resources (i.e. time, energy, money, and attention) to conduct a visit to an adoption site.
WebbLike every other theory, the Arousal Theory of crime has its strengths and its weaknesses. Some of the strengths of this theory are the fact that it can help predict delinquency in subjects who score high on sensation seeking and impulsiveness and the fact that it can attest and help explain drug use and abuse. WebbOriginally published in 1979, this title represents a summary of 17 years of research centring around the Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS) and the theory from which the test was derived.
